Well I’m a cheery little chicky today. It’s a Friday, the sun is shining, I’m buzzing on my 2nd can of V already today & the weekend is just a few thumb-twiddles away.

Last night we went to see the Chemical Brothers & Minuit play at Vector Arena & I was immediately teleported back to the late 90s, getting flashbacks of ecstasy-nights, dancing until sun-up at forest raves, wearing toystore-hardware store jewelry & ravergirl boots bigger than jesus. I was sooo feeling it. Sure the crowd is a little older & less neon these days but the energy was there. So I guess the Chem Bros are responsible for the mood I’m in today. I feel really rejuvenated. It’s been way too long since I had a good night like that where I couldn’t stop dancing.

So this is the part where usually I’d post a huge ream of photos to halt your net, but I was so zoned-out dancing last night I only took a couple. I handed my cam to Nik & he took a whole bunch of awesome pics, capturing their incredible lightshow, check out his Youtube account here & his Flickr account here. Big props to Chemical Brothers for bringing a full lightshow & their omg stage set-up (that looks like some crossbreed of the TARDIS & the bridge of the Enterprise). It was epic. Most bands bring nothing to this little island & complain that it’s the venues’ fault. Well I call bullshit & the Chems proved it last night.

Well, I’m finally coming back to reality after one of the best weekends of my life. I don’t really know where to start, it still feels a bit soon to review. All I can think is “I wanna go back”.

Nik & I went over to Waiheke Island for a couple of nights & stayed in a cute little retreat. I’ve never stayed in a place like it. We had our own little bungalow situated at the top of a big foresty block of land. There were several other bungalows scattered through the property with little windy paths lit by faerie lights, weaving all around, but we didn’t see a single soul. We didn’t even see our hosts, except for a glimpse through the trees as she deposited our morning croissants at our door for us like some hippy easter bunny. So dreamy…

Anyway, I got a little carried away with a back-story in my head & started building this future-world, post-war scenario with a city that was half destroyed in a mech war…
