I made a city-scape model. I started making it since Nik & I were having a go at some animation & I wanted to develop a backdrop/scene for the great shorts he was making with the gundam mechs. Anyway, I got a little carried away with a back-story in my head & started building this future-world, post-war scenario with a city that was half destroyed in a mech war…
I started building it from scratch, using actual building-plaster for the buildings, lots of cardboard & foam, paints, electronic parts & anything random I could find really. Friends everywhere were helping me collect foam, bits and pieces & helping with ideas. I was having fun & got kinda obsessed.
After that I started spending a bit of cash on aesthetics like grass, people, cars, pebbling, props etc to fill it out a bit with more detail & it started looking pretty good I thought, coming from someone with no experience.
So this thing started to get pretty big. It took up a desktop & the buildings stood about 50cm high (maybe higher). It’s had a bit of use in animation & I attempted a photographic comic-strip using a mixture of model-photography & live-action acting. That was really fun.
Now, we’re moving out of our big flat soon & going for something cheaper, which means smaller, which means no room for big stuff that I only play with occasionally.
I have to get rid of the model.
Like I said, It was my first time making something like this, so it doesn’t look awesome or pro at all, but I’ve grown attached to it all the same & want it to go to someone if they have a use for it. If anyone would like any parts/ the whole thing please let me know. As I mentioned there are some expensive parts that maybe someone could use like jars of fake grass & pebbles. They’re the Games Workshop style ones & the grass in particular is quite cool. The pebbles were too large for my scale (or too small if I were to use them as rocks or boulders). There is also some little men & war-like props like barrels, fencing, sandbags, handmade street-signs etc, lots of random things in there that someone might want if they’re into modeling.
Please contact me asap, as most of it will end up in the trash when we move & you know how much I hate adding to landfill.
