Ok, so I’m back from Brisbane.
Not much to report & not really any photos to show off to the public. It was a week of family-time pretty much, lots of hugs & stuff. I hadn’t seen my family in a long time & I was definitely due for a visit “home”. I miss them a lot.
So next week we’re leaving NZ & heading to Rarotonga for 5 days. Heelllooo sunshine & sand! ![]()
Then after that we’re flying to LA for what will hopefully be a long stay, of a few years.. all going to plan.
The packing/ selling has been crazy so far. We’re exhausted already & there’s still more to go. Nik has been doing a great job of selling off all our belongings & it’s so strange watching all our toys disappear & the flat gradually become empty. We’re being stripped bare again. Part cathartic, part heartbreaking. It’s all just “stuff” in the end though.
A side of me is looking forward to living more basic again, not being distracted with clutter & pretty things. I’m gonna get all feng shui or something. We still have the important things like instruments & laptops, but no more xbox360s, big plasmas & sound systems. No more white noise & static hum. No toys & crap everywhere. I wonder how long I’ll be able to stay like this without collecting junk & appliances again in the next house. I’m determined to stay minimal this time, one frying pan, 2 bowls, 4 chopsticks style thing.
I was reading on Treehugger about Haiku-living (they were focusing on the anti-consumption side of the idea) about keeping to a rigid number of items you are allowed to keep in your house to avoid clutter & keep focus. Maybe this can be a new mission for me.
I’ll keep you posted..

Um… don’t expect it to stay no xbox360s, plasmas & sound systems for long…
