About Me

I believe exploration of some form or another should be a daily habit. Whether trying something for the first time, going somewhere new, or just a change of attitude, something needs to be found or explored everyday for us to grow. For that reason I’ve grown to love travel & want to see the world. I want to experience everything.

Domestically, I explore mostly with food. If I can’t physically travel the world then I at least like to learn about it through food culture & customs. I spend a lot of time gazing at food/travel blogs, finding “ethnic” cookbooks & watching too much travel tv.

Music & movies are my self-exploration. Music is a large part of my life. Seems a redundant thing to say; I’m sure everyone feels similar, but I’ve spent a lot of my life passively studying music & appreciating a diverse collection. These days I don’t play instruments as often as I’d like but I still keep them close. Creating is something I really have to be in the mood for & feel secure with my surroundings & the people I’m revealing myself to. Unfortunately creatively I become the introverted type & for that reason I find that I rarely get anything done. ;)

Movies became an everyday passion when I ran a dvd store while living in New Zealand a few years. Being surrounded by film all day every day was a fun (& quite educational) era & I grew a great appreciation (& occasionally snobbery) for movies.

Health, fitness & environmentalism seem to be broadening subjects as I get older & I find myself increasingly interested in their different facets & relationships. To me health starts with the health of the planet & our health is a direct product of our habitat. For that reason I am interested in our environment, its ecology & issues like sustainable living, vegetarianism, & lately living organically. I often long for a life, living self-reliant on the land & off-grid.

“Health” also branches off into exercise & fitness, another keen interest of mine. I love, literally love running, cycling, climbing, swimming & just movement in general. I am at my happiest when I am moving through space as fast as my body can take me. If I could fly I’m sure I would die of ecstasy.

Also, I cannot hide that I’m a girl of a few conflicts. While I dream of going off-grid like a tree-hippy or at least minimize my power usage, I am also shamefully interested in a few geek-tech subjects. In the “lounge” you’re sure to find gaming references, sci-fi banter, gadgetry & a hypocritical love for technologies of the unnecessary kind. Of course, I wouldn’t be here blogging if I was the goddess of all things natural or a techno-phobe. The internet is yet another way for me to explore & I guess this site will be like my backpack. Like I said in my very first post, this really is just a “dump ground”, a place for me to store photos, thoughts & stuff on my journeys. It can come with me everywhere… & so can you. :)
